Se per\u00f2 includiamo anche l&#8217;area metropolitana di Seoul, arriviamo a circa 25 milioni di abitanti, rendendola la sesta citt\u00e0 pi\u00f9 popolosa del mondo.<\/p><p><b>Qual \u00e8 la storia di Seoul?<\/b> Inizialmente denominata Wiryeseong dalla sua fondazione nel 18 a.C. fino al 475 d.C., Seoul fu capitale di Baekje, prima di essere conquistata dal regno di Goguryeo, e poi da quello di Silla. Questi erano i tre regni della Corea prima dell&#8217;unificazione, avvenuta sotto la dinastia Goryeo (936-1392), quando la citt\u00e0 assunse il nome di Hanseong, traducibile come &#8220;citt\u00e0 fortificata sul fiume Han&#8221;, e successivamente divenne la capitale della dinastia Joseon col nome di Hanyang nel 1394. Mantenne il nome di Hanyang fino all&#8217;occupazione giapponese del 1910-1945, quando fu ribattezzata Gyeongseong (Keij\u014d in giapponese) e infine assunse l&#8217;attuale denominazione di Seoul dopo la liberazione nel 1945.
